Just another facet of JC staff's piss poor adapting of this series. Hopefully one day they just rebuild it into mores movies like the Shana movie, which was actually a lot better than the series.

I never saw the Bal Masque leaders as weak in the anime. They've never really lost any of their fights, in fact they usually have the upper hand.
