I meant the reason why those machines in Altair starts malfunctioning, I didn't meant the population problem when I said that. But now that you mentioned it, I'm still into the theory that the tree of life might also has something to do with that

Hmm..I know that Apollo saved the earth in OVA by creating parallel universe and we can't really confirm about the situation of the original universe in the OVA, so maybe their state is like that because of dimensional distortions might have some truth in it...if that's what you're saying.
