well since I cannot understand a word of what has been said in the episode...

I can only judge by the looks of it, and I can say this episode was far from spectacular in the animation department. Compared with episode 01 which I loved, I would rate it 6/10 in terms of animation. It looks like ep 35X of some random shonen

It also seems like the most interesting part of the ep is what is being said, so I kind of understand the lack of quality, but that fight with the mech I m sure could have been perfect for a great display of 3D and CGI, but none of them were present.

I think this episode will draw the line between haters and lovers of the show, if haters are still watching... cause for what I can see, the show is more about comedy and parody than anything else, it almost looks like a sit-com for otaku audiences.
