I wonder. There are certainly a lot of bad feelings between the two of them but I''m not sure its just hate.

Remember that after defeating him, Kazuma called an ambulance for his father when he could have just left him laying there. Also, when Kazuma did beat him, I got the impression that his father seemed almost... proud of him.
