I think ANY hobby can be "lonely"... unless it's sports because you play to play against another person right? But with things like anime, you can enjoy it on your own (in a corner? O_o) and it can still be fun. Therefore, I think if you're the antisocial type of person, then yes... you like anime and you'll probably stay lonely because you're not your hobbies to socialize.

On the other hand, I don't really consider anime a hobby >_> To me, it's a past-time that I use to well... past time lol! I'm not as addicted as I used to be although I still enjoy marathoning an entire series at once. I do think it's a lonely hobby (since I don't have many friends at all that share my passion) but I'm far from a being loner =) I have a lot of other interests and areas that my friends and I bond over.
