I actually think it is closer to option 1 and
Shouma is special. I think maybe that is why his dad (sorry I never remember the parents names) started the terrorist act (or survival strategy) after his son was born. Maybe they knew he was going to be a special child.
Of course we don't know if Shouma was the son he was talking about.
