That was because Nagaru Tanigawa is the writer and creator of Haruhi Suzumiya.
Also, in the scene where you can see that one of Itsuki's cards is Lina Inverse and Naga, The White Serpent, who is the pink haired girl next to them? I'm sure I've seen her somewhere before...
