think the fact that there's more screentime for the girls is that all those boys are just too buddy-buddy with each other, that there's no external conflict for something to happen. The girls represent something that's different and foreign, and dangerous at the same time.

in some way i see it as a subtle jab at the boy's attitude/mentality toward the opposite sex, and sometimes it's more interesting if the skits involving some sort of conflict. Who knows, maybe that's just the flavour of the month from the mangaka and it will revert back soon enough.
