Homura, who arrived unexpectedly. It seemed as though she wanted to have a bit of a discussion. Of course, Sayaka wasn't really in the mood to chat with Homura (Is she ever?
) so she tried to just brush her aside. Of course, one Kotetsu Miki seemed to get a little too suspicious for his daughter's liking, so she eventually complied with Homura's telepathic request. Clever use of the guy, I must say...
Anyway, after making up some story about school work (where have I heard that one before...) the two girls headed out for a brief walk, accompanied by a bit of awkward silence. A silence that would be broken by Sayaka asking what it was Homura wanted to talk about. And after a bit of explanation about why they need to go somewhere private, along with Homura saying she doesn't want to use telepathy all that much... guess she doesn't want to tip Kyubey off too much?
After arriving at the super secret location of the park's fountain where any loud-mouthed guy and his friend with a camera phone walking by could totally see and hear them, Homura makes a stunning revelation: Like pretty much every other girl in this, she
can fall victim to Hitomi's spell happens to be attracted to girls! However, there's little point in dragging someone all the way out to the park to tell them what you're preferences are. No, there's a very specific reason she's making this revelation. It seems Homura is in love with Sa... Saya...
WHA?! Wait wait wait... This is a confession? But I thought she... and that Madoka... Okay, this'd be a lot funnier if I were still using a Sayaka avatar, so I'm just gonna stop with the act.
Sayaka herself doesn't have the option of stopping, of course, and she's left completely bewildered by this absolutely startling development. Before she could give a proper response or even try and say a full sentence... Homura leaned towards her and kissed her!
Of course, this
was mostly a ruse on Homura's part in order to try and prevent Sayaka's usual fate from happening... but Sayaka doesn't have to know that. After all, while Homura's main objective is still protecting Madoka from becoming drawn into the PM world, I get a sense Homura genuinely wanted to help Sayaka.
Anyway, the following morning, Madoka was greeted by a very cheerful Sayaka. A Sayaka whose cheeriness was directed towards Homura, which caught Madoka by surprise. Regardless of the reason, Madoka was certainly relieved by Sayaka's mood, as was Mami when Madoka relayed the good news. During that, Mami invited Madoka to spend some time with her and Kyouko, which until I see otherwise, I will assume is going to involve a certain arcade game. But enough about that, there's a more pressing matter than how Madoka will be spending her free time...
And while Sayaka narrated the opening portion which ended in Homura "confessing" to her, Homura gets this last portion. And I must say, it was a very nice touch to handle it this way.
I can certainly get why Homura's thinking the way she is here. While Sayaka has said Homura is attractive in the past, the latter didn't actually hear that. All she really has to go by is prior experience, which kinda points to Sayaka not liking her...
Of course, while Sayaka was caught completely by surprise the day before, this time it was Homura's turn to be surprised. The spring in Sayaka's step was just the tip of the iceberg, so to speak. After not-so-subtly hinting at what she was going to say, combined with a bit of casual flirting... Sayaka actually accepted the confession. And, I gotta agree with Sayaka; the mental image I'm getting of Homura in this scene
is quite adorable. Why, the only way it'd be better is if she had her hair braided and wore glasses... But that's just plain silly, now isn't it?
And before I move on to the other half of this...
