^Yes, Avatar is just a rip-off of other (better) material (btw, nice find). The late great Poul Anderson novella
Call Me Joe was also heavily ripped off by Cameron...hell, Anderson even had a novel called
Avatar...though it had nothing to do with Avatars
. (This isn't the first time Cameron has ripped off better storytellers either (just look at
Terminator, which was stolen from a Harlan Ellison
Outer Limits episode).)
Being overly formulaic and unoriginal doesn't stop the movie from being fun, though...
