Well have you tried Honey and Clover? It's honestly the shoujo version of Sakurasou. However, it's a bit less eccentric and focuses a bit more on the drama and feelings of the main characters.
The premise of the two shows are eerily similar. MC is in art college, not talented but a hard worker, his senpais really love teasing him, his best friend and girl he likes are both regarded as geniuses, MC has to deal with feelings of inferiority when seeing his super genius friends at work.
