What if Gamilasforming isn't actually meant to make earths atmosphere more like Gamilons per say, but it's designed to just clean it up in general?
In Nausica Valley of the wind, the sea of corruption (a giant forest ecology that emitted miasma toxic to humans) was actually a sophisticated pollution clean up mechanism devised by the long lost ancient human civilization. After the Miasma had done its work, the environment was left clean and pure.
If you're conquering a more primitive races planet that refuses to surrender, Gamilasforming is a nifty tool. It cleans up any pollution left behind by the previous inhabitants, and it's such an intensive *chemotherapy* that it doesn't leave any resistant natives to bother your new colonists once the planet has been renewed.
