Now that is just untrue.. it is quite obvious that she is selfish; in fact doesn't Kyon himself say so multiple times in the novel? It's really part of the design of her character; and she is meant to be lovable
despite her flaws.
Please don't put her on a pedestal.
I mean, for analysis : p Haruhiists can do whatever they want..
