Um, Babbo, although a sentient Arm, by himself CAN DO NOTHING. ANY Arm needs to fully
synchronize with its wielder in order to acheive its full poterntial in battle. This was clearly explained during the "Gate of Training" episodes. In order to synchronize with his/her Arm, the user has to have a significant amount of magical power and strong concentration. In those aspects Ginta was not "weak", in fact, many were surprised at how quickly his "magical powers" developed from virtually zero to a level that could compete with Bishops (and eventually Knights).
Thus, when Ginta and Babbo battle, they SYNCHRONIZE...they BECOME ONE. Hence, Babbo DOES NOT "do all the work". Ginta uses his magical power and will to synchronize with Babbo, while Babbo, with the magical stones embedded in him, transforms into whatever "version" Ginta wills him to be, with a power commensurate with the magical power Ginta "puts" into Babbo.
