Hey, guys, I´ve got something that got me curious:

I´m halfway through watching the 2001 movie GO with the lovely Kou "Mitsuko" Shibasaki of Battle Royale fame and I´ve noticed something peculiar.
So, the protagonist goes to a restaurant where his mom is working as a waitress, kimono uniform and all.
And so she sits and eats with her kid.
That struck me as a bit weird, I mean, would the manager be okay with an employee eating with the customers?
But then it is his mom and maybe she´s off duty, what do I know...

Later on, however, the other female employee in a kimono also sits and eats with the protagonist and his buddy.
And it got me thinking... is that a thing?
Is it some tradition for the waitresses to eat with the customers?
i mean, I´ve seen geishas at the table drinking with clients and I think it´s part of a tradition, but..... what do i know, right? ^^

You've... never been to a family-owned restaurant, have you? In any country? o.O
