From Cheri's dad last order, it does seems his main objective was to capture a Center Nova. But it seems Yuuko disappeared before he could do so. If they crush AKB now, they may lose their chance of creating a new Center Nova in the future. I think he will likely retreat now and wait at least until a new Center Nova appears or is likely to appear.
