Okay... If true, then this confirms the Gin face turn. On the upside, he goes from smiling malevolent villain to brooding, one-armed anti-hero. Since Ichigo's protomullet confirms that shinigami hair can grow outside of hougyoku intervention, maybe he can get some five o'clock shadow to complete the motif. On the downside, since he's a good guy now and isn't Ichigo, expect him to have his ass handed to him every time there's an important fight...

Problem with the way Kubo tries to prolong the plotline is that he's really bad at it. Instead of making the story longer, he just stretches it out needlessly. I mean, honestly, you could easily fit the entire Don Kanonji encounter and everything since into one episode of the TV series. The last chapter alone wouldn't take three minutes to tell.
