I don't know. Him staying enthusiastic does look kinda queer. It's just my personal opinion, but I think Haruki staying serious during that isn't a good idea.
Him being awed in a somewhat non lecherous way (Haruki:0_0 OVER 9000!) would make the scene easier to swallow without Haruki coming off a gay.
