I'm still not confident about the director. He is Yamasaka Osamu, who did
Toward the Terra and
Itazura na Kiss.
No lead writer is credited, but the story is credited to Otomate, the games-for-girls company. This appears to be their first foray into anime, as far as I can tell. There is already a Hakuouki PSP game. Here is a
