If her hair is made of mithril it should be bullet/everything proof like Frodo's chainmail. I thought it looked grey, which brought to mind the prematurely aged children in Akira. If it's really meant to be ash-blonde, someone at the anime foundry looked up the wrong meaning of "ash". Or maybe she's related to the haibane?
