thats your problem when down sizing...heres a tip...if you are using photoshop go to file and make a new background layer that is within AS size limit...then open up your pic and resize it keeping it in proportion ~ dont go stretching it out of proportion here...use the move tool and drag the pic into your first BG layer...then add text...this way it wont look soo warped ~ and if needed you can shrinking it even more before dragging...
