Nope. There are a lot of light novels like that. Just that most are just interested in ecchi/harem/moe genres. This story is well received by both Otaku and non-Otaku alike and generated more than 50 million page views while it was still a web novel. This is purely action series and no ecchi nor harem nor moe. And how is it like Dragon Ball? It's closer to Horizon/Shana style, even though they are not the same. I think it's probably not for you
