Imagine what's they'd do if they were opposed by a few dozen pissed off gun owners...

But you know the saying, power corrupts. This is why when people toss out the whole "nah, the military will revolt with us if the government turns evil!", I laugh. Some might, but many won't. There's more historical precedent that police and military will turn on their own people when ordered than there is those who mass desert in protest. Not saying it's impossible, but those ties, they run deep.

Actually I'd say they'd fragment into several groups.
The largest would be supported by the miltiary industrial complex and they'd oppose both the "Progressives" calling for gun control and the "Constitutionalists" wanting to return to the constitution.
It'd be kinda like the Weimar Republic prior to the Nazis, only a lot more violent and instead of Nationalist Socialists, we'd have Internationalist Corporatists taking over.
That's why I want to see the gun control crowd back off.
From all I've read thus far, the military industrial complex (people like Grover Norquist) know the era of the Neo-Cons is over and they are chomping at the proverbial bit to start civil unrest to implement what they want.
Real scary when you look at it.
