Uhm, heres a list of great sword and sorcery animes and i will list them from best to second best etc.
Juuni Kokki (Twelve Kingdoms) - This is a great anime (rated 6th on aniDB) dealing with politics alot of sword fights and definitely alot of magic. I myself (am a guy) and didnt really want to watch an anime with a female lead, but it is very very good so that didnt affect its greatness.
