Since the first episode of the remake is out I'd like to ask a few questions that are most likely of interest to anybody who hasn't seen the original (yet).

1a. Is this remake fully independent of the first version?
1b. Or are some introductory arc(s) being skipped or compressed in a way one wouldn't compress them if this was actually new material?

2. If the remake starts at a latter part of the story or strongly compresses a part of the story up to which episode should one watch the first version then?

3. Is it even possible to obtain a consistent story by mixing original and remake?
