After Story starts while still in school. The series is sort of split in that regard, as the latter part (five year timeskip) comes into play near the 2nd half of the series. Despite the spoiler you heard, not watching it because of that is cheating yourself out of a beautiful, albeit emotional rollercoaster of a series which easily surpasses the first series.
