I'm actually surprised that few people have reacted to the choice of director. His works tend to be hammered by everyone - they're strange, clunky, trashy, porn-like (in terms of construction and poor attention to storytelling), often incomprehensible and irreverent toward source material. Most viewers have nothing good to say, and I'm inclined to believe that his works are intentionally dodgy.

Indeed, the one sequence of QB:R that I've seen has very amateurish, comically poor cinematography.

Nevertheless, there are those who find things to enjoy amidst the craziness. Clunkiness aside, there's a surreal/ephemeral quality to his OVAs through his strange pacing/jumping flow of time (some cannot be understood without familiarity with the original work since story concepts and characters are briefly presented with no context), and his use of audio can be simultaneously pleasing and awkward. It's lower echelon work for sure, but sometimes that can be a curiosity.
that's... pretty scary. I really hoped for an evolution over the last seasons with a focus in the story and better character development.
