Some people watched the first 2 episodes thinking "Woah, this shows going to be bloody!!" The director did that because he needed to show Yui's backstory and give a reason for her behaviour in the main part of the series.

Yes, but when it finally comes to the battles it doesn't mean they should only put in the minimal amount of screentime -_-
