Well, that's certainly a possibility, but I thought Alucard is considered a vampire as well ... hm, maybe Ikeda sensei is using the Cain myth from vampire mythology here ... that Cain was cursed by god and became the first vampire in existence.

So similarly Alucard was cursed and became a vampire as well, and after some time, when he has gotten used to his new nature, he passed what he has become to his descendants causing vampires to appear in the world.
