Good for not apologizing but I have to admit I'm mystified why watching girls might be thought "ghey" unless you hang around with Really-Broken-Male role models.

Not sure what "that way" is.... some females do some don't. It depends on the personalities and the dynamic - as well as the culture. You're watching a fictional account of high school Japanese girls.
