Well, if they just got back from summer vacation, that means they still have 3/4 to 2/3rds of the school year left to deal with. If Ikeda is smart he'd end season 2 when the group become third years and Gin graduates, and then maybe continue with the story under the moniker of
Season 3.
A lot can happen between now and then, and even then, there is sure to be more after as long as Mr Ikeda doesn't write himself into a corner, and end up losing steam for the story.
