Madoka's decision, however, makes perfect sense in context of the circumstances and her personality.
What is interesting, though... if Mami is unaware of Madoka's wish, it means the first timeline went differently from what we saw in the show. Not only Sayaka is uninvolved, but it's also possible that Mami and Madoka only met after Madoka contracted.
