Both Sasuke and Kakashi make the comment about the Valley of the End. Their brief comment was how "two opponents fought until the end in this valley" although Sasuke still didn't know about Madara by that time while Kakashi knew about the two enemies in the valley. Still, Madara wasn't explained until 13 volumes later when Jiraiya and Itachi mention him.
