Thinking further about John's gripe on secondhand Hornets, I should note that I've flanderised things: in 1993 when we signed the purchase deal IRL (and in 1997 when the birds were delivered), we had brand new F/A-18Ds that were outfitted as all weather/strike aircraft. And this time, we
did buy spare parts.
Still, John's complaining a little too much - these are 2nd hand ex-USMC Hornets, taken from a squadron that recently converted to the Super Hornet, so they aren't
that bad... well, if not for the maintennance woes.
