A middle-aged man has three children, his wife passed away soon after the birth of the third child and with no other family he has to raise the children on his own. He's not the smartest man but a hard worker, working in construction for a few years. He lives with his children in a small and old home, all three sons have to share the same tiny room with only one bed.
One day the company he worked for went bankrupt, he couldn't land a job anywhere else, nobody would take him. Soon he became unable to even pay the rent and the family was forced out. For weeks they lived on the street, the oldest son had to quit school the year before finishing highschool, his dreams of higher education shattered. At the height of desperation the father contemplates suicide but the thought of leaving his children alone scare him more than anything.
One day as he crossed the street a drunk driver nearly kills him, luckily he was able to jump out of the way in time, but as he lay there on the ground, half his body in the street and the other on the sidewalk he notices a piece of paper under his hand...it was a lottery ticket with the winning numbers, he became a millionaire from one moment to the next.

He bought a good home, sent his kids to the finest schools, giving them the best education money can buy. He also invest the money wisely and ends up making more and more money, more than he and his family will ever need.
His kids grow up nicely, one became a musician known world wide, another became a surgeon and the eldest joined NASA, all of them doing their dream jobs and finding their soulmates in the process.
Years later the now billionaire is on his deathbed writing his will, half his amazing fortune goes to his children and the rest goes to charity. He dies surrounded by those he loves, knowing they would be alright without him.

I'm about as happy as the dog of the small Ethiopian child after being fed actual food for the first time in God knows how long by a charity worker, using the money they got from the old billionaire.
