I think this was the major negative point in this episode for me, having to sit through Maka's "depressingly" whiny moments then having come to the conclusion which should have been there from the start. Honestly Soul should have just beaten the crap out of her for being so naive...

That's why I didn't like anime original story. Most of the character will be messed up like this.

Although in the manga , she does whine about how she's not strong , and being a jerk when first doing Team Resonance. But other than that , Maka is very cool...there's supposed to be some chara development...which is not here.
