LOL Welcome to the party! Yes, this has been guessed upon since the female titan first made her appearance. There is no confirmation yet, but that is a very strong possibility. What bothered me was that she was so prominent in the intro and ending, yet barely appears in the episodes themselves. There are a lot of other characters that appear more in the story, but does not show much in the intro and ending. Hence, that was another reason to believe it is her.
As for the assassin in the end of the episode, the members of Levi's group believes that it was Levi who set off the smoke signal. Why did they think that? Also, how did the assassin/traitor know that the smoke signal is the correct one to use? To me, that makes it seem more and more like it was someone else and not the female titan.
The clothing and 3D gear was explained by earlier posters (although, considering how long it would have taken the female titan to find a corpse, switch clothes, and find useable 3D that she hasn't been smashed, while Levi was chilling about and leaving his team to rot through the forest instead of retreating), so it is possible that it could still be the female titan. Besides, isn't Erwin looking for at least 2 traitors, as mentioned in episode 15?
I'm still trying to figure out how Eren will learn how to control his titan form like the female titan does. Does he need to snap out of it somehow? Although, I think the last time he snapped out of it, he had to pulled out of the titan and did not really control it. Either way, I was looking forward to seeing Eren learn to control his titan form on this expedition. Hopefully, we'll be able to see it before the season ends.
