I had an idea to morph the genderbending story from the original series. Why not? it's fanbased project anyways. I've wrote a little bit, then got a writer's block... umm see if this makes sense.

what would cause Haruhi to imagine a whole new genderbent world starting everything over again?

That's why I call this a "very murky idea"

Spoiler for How it all begins?: When a bright idea sparks within Haruhi, it is most likely that the spark will turn into a blaze of fire that consumes everything. Thinking back right now, that whole event was probably caused because of the spark of Haruhi. No, it was not an event; it was more like a creation of a whole new world. The world that I am almost too embarrassed to talk about. However, since I have mentioned all the other embarrassing SOS-Brigade activities, it wouldn’t really break my heart to tell another. Just like how little snowflake can start an avalanche, this catastrophe was caused by a very tiny factor. then I got a writer's block, what would cause Haruhi to imagine a whole new genderbent world starting everything over again?
