It probably would have been wise of the ones with the secret to tell Ike anyway as the secret only effects 2 of the characters not him. As Ike is quite on the ball he would likely want to work out what it is as well, probably teaming up with Yuji in the process. Having Yuji's best friend on their side is quite a strong benefit.
I say best friend light heartedly as every single character seems to be more Yuji's friend then Ike after the first half of season 1.
Would have to agree its more of a part to have him in the episode at all.
