Spoiler for Episode 3:
Well, another week passed and we're still as close as getting some real hook to the non-existant story as we were back when it premiered. This week's episode actually felt better than last week's, because despite the obvious filler-ish nature, at least something was happening. The 10 minutes of emo from last week were just too much and I was quite close to dropping it then.
Anyway, I liked the imouto introduced, who, curiously, looked nothing like her brother and mum. I suspect anime's magic might be at work here, but maybe the dad doesn't have blue hair. That aside, her delusions about Morikawa's personality were arguably cute and managed to make me smile. Still, it's hardly worthy of praise, because while having a cute girl do silly things might work once or twice, it's not exactly original. I also chuckled a few times due to the translation, and although I'm certain this wasn't intended, clearly my mind has gone beyond salvation after all these years. I couldn't think of anything else but "pedo" when the shopkeeper guy was offering some particular lessons to Aichi's little sister, and I also thought "I ride Marron" to be quite suggestive!
As for the game, the whole grade thing was interesting, I think it adds a bit of depth to it, but the luck issues are still there. Again we had Aichi getting a drive trigger near the end of a match and it's becoming a bit too common, in particular since we're still on the third episode. All the explanations about it also made me wonder how are rules for summoning monsters, and I'm unsure if the show went through these already or if we're still on the dark, because if the latter, then I must say I wish they'd talk about it. Having characters drop monsters left and right on the field without even knowing how it works made it quite overwhelming.
And... uh, well, I guess that's it? There's not much else to say, and the preview for EP4 looks like it might be more interesting, since the shop woman is clearly cute skilled in the game, and she wouldn't be featured in the OP/ED otherwise.

I must second this, although at least the drawings (in particular close-up shots) are still looking decent. It doesn't make up for nearly non-existant animation, but if even that starts going to unacceptable levels, we might have a problem!
Oh well, guess having Hara working on some Yu-Gi-Oh! episodes truly is a blessing.
