Spoiler for stuff:
- The formula strikes again, intruders whenever there's a tournament...
-The transitions between scenes just felt 'off' for some reason... might be because of unrealized potentials still left untapped from the scenes. For example back in Vol4 they just skipped the dinner scene at the Orimura residence after they finished cooking. And they only went over Ran's bit in this volume VERY briefly IMO.
-Houki accidently getting drunk due to waiters' fault and not be able to confess to Ichika? THAT felt a bit forced on the author's part...
-Tabane sending all these unmanned drones to attack IS Academy for the sole purpose of getting data on Houki? That I can accept, seeing this was also Tabane wanting to force Chifuyu into stepping into battle herself.
Tabane adopted a girl as her assistant and asking to be called 'mother'? Not so much, and it made me go Even if Tabane only want one sister (Houki), this is just...
- Afterword mentioned next volume will reveal Chifuyu's secrets... hopefully this will be good. I'd be disappointed if we get trolled by something like her three sizes or something >.>
Overall, as a LN series I'm starting to see this as 2nd rate - the anime was better, and as a general rule I tend to think the LN is better than the anime. Must be the fight scenes being animated...

About transition scene being "off", it's been like that for this series for some time, but I agree that it's really glaring in this volume.
I agree with this LN series as being 2nd rate, but IMO, the LN is still better than the anime. The anime does have the advantage of animated battle, but they cut the explanation too much and make Laura and Cecilia look like they have bipolar personality disorder
.
For formulaic nature, that's basically a complaint for almost all reader of the LN here(including me).
