The dirt thing sounds more reasonable but there's nothing he can say since he's not exactly hiding much of anything (Drug abuse and Gynophobia not withstanding). Tatenashi tried taking him on a date on SWC. It started pretty bad since she told him to remove all his weapons but he refused to do it.
Irish and Laura's idea of a date is basic. They think spending time with the opposite gender, no matter the activity, counts as a date. He says he and Laura go on dates sometimes and she agrees to his explanation.
