Alas this is clearly setting up Izetta to die fulfilling the tired and old Japanese trope of tragic lesbians.
This show overall really encompasses the idea of wasted potential. Lots of cool elements and decent lore and decent accuracy squandered by bad characterization and overall average plot writing.

Agree, except I'm not so sure Izetta's going to die. Sure she's tripping quite some death flags, but if they betrayed expectations here and managed an elegant happy ending, that would be a saving grace.
