If you're finding you're maxing out, and this is an .264 encode, then you might find it worth investing in CoreAVC's codec which is about $10, as it's faster than the more popular FFDShow codec.

My CPU usage shoots to 100% in Media Player Classic. Same with VLC.
So the only issue is the codecs? Nothing hardware-related, I hope?
