Research something that has the plausibility to change the world as we know it, get laughed at for it, devote an unhealthy amount of time for said research, realize exactly how big and how impossibly unprepared humanity would be for such a thing to exist, then turn the whole of humanity into one giant experiment to satisfy your ego.
