Funimation has the rights and has some US only video service.
Also the fansub groups are still pretty active, there's a load of speedsubs who release the latest episodes within 24hours after airing in 720p. There's even a dedicated fansub group which provides higher quality releases (though they do lag behind).

So no it isn't crunchy's fault, it's the entertainment industry in Japan that tries to milk the most popular franchise in anime/manga history for all that it's worth. They don't give a damn about the quality as long as people keep watching it.
