I think people are overreacting to the chocolate part. While i agree that the anime has made it worse by overdramatizing this in episode 10 , by leaving out some information and even changing scenes completely compared to the game.

Spoiler for Game comparison about chocolate: The scene at the end of episode 2 was to "celebrate" Daiki's death anniversary. So i don't think that (as some call it) chocolate ritual was unreasonable back then. As for the completely changed scenes, i won't post that as that would be too much of a spoiler in here.
