As much as I hate to say it, people want Zen to be abnormal because they'd like to see him get more screen time and actually do something that doesn't revolve around Medaka. I noticed a lot of people saying Zen is the main character, which, though I wish it was true, isn't. Medaka's the main character and Zen's just the dude who narrates her life... Kind of like a rip-off of Kyon from Haruhi. Both are snarky, bot are regular guys dragged around by god-like beings. Maybe that explains why I don't really get into this manga much... I hated Haruhi.
