regarding homu-chan taking care of business, i would guess she did. but that doesn't mean she killed them. i remember a quote from shinbo-sensei:

of course that is off-camera and whatever homu did is probably a topic for speculation. i do hope that they make a dramacd for this to tie-up oriko and madoka magica series since they involve common characters. or do they simply exist independent of each other?
