There is a saying in Japan that reads something similar to: "bow only when you've the upper hand." The reason this was a wonderful episode was because of the latter part which highlights how two skillful negotiator came into an agreement. Seemingly the English negotiator had the upper hand at the beginning because meat is a perishable goods, but the tables were quickly turned when the Musashi negotiator realizes England will be going into war with Spain in two weeks time. That information alone won Musahi in the negotiation table. Not only that, Musashi is sending an Ambassador (aka hostage) and their top fighter as bodyguard to England so there are no bitter feelings. As a result, Musashi also may gain an ally in England for their future endeavor. It's like killing two birds without throwing a stone.
